# How to Mark an Email as Important? If an email lands in the Spam folder, you have to mark it as "Not Spam", otherwise you'll miss future emails from the sender. To prevent this, we can mark the email as Important, which helps the email client to understand our priorities. In this example, I'll show how to mark an email as Important in Gmail. Note that not all inboxes have this feature. ## On Gmail Mobile 1. Open an email in the Gmail app 2. Click the vertical `...` icon:  3. Click "Mark as Important":  ## On Gmail Desktop 1. Open [Gmail](https://mail.google.com/) 2. Open an email 3. Click the "Important" button after the subject:  #### If you don't see this button there, you can turn it on easily: 1. Click the gear icon 2. Click "See all settings"  3. Go to the "Inbox" settings 4. Check "Show markers"  5. Click Save. Now you can mark emails as important.
